Motorsport is objectively terrible for the planet, and just going from the racetrack that's sort of close to where my brother lives, it's also way too loud to be tolerable. However, back in late 2022, while searching for something to have running in the background, while I go and do other things, I somehow stumbled into watching long distance sportscar races.
These days, I'm unfortunately actually invested in some of the stuff that's going on (sports just makes nice stories and drama, and then you just can't help but care about the fate of these awful, awful people and their awful companies), but the race that got me hooked was the 2022 edition of the 24 hours of Le Mans, specifically the night session.
Sportscar racing was in a weird holding pattern in that year, partially because of covid, but also because it was kind of in-between rules cycles. This meant that the race itself was fairly calm, which gave the commentators a lot of room to just talk about stuff during the night.
They also happened to know about Discord and used twitter, and thus the night session turned into something more akin to a twitch stream, than to a regular television broadcast of a motor race, and it turned out to be actually really funny to watch and listen to.
Go and give it a watch if you like, the whole thing is up on youtube:
